Increasing handling numbers in August 2021
In August 2021, a total of 562,289 tonnes of goods were transshipped on the waterside in the Mannheim ports. The freight transport increased by 93,436 tons from 468,853 tons in the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 19.93 percent.
Compared to August 2020, the solid mineral fuels goods group recorded the highest increase in tonnage. Here, throughput rose by 65,900 tons (+ 111.30 percent). The highest percentage increase was achieved in the iron, steel and non-ferrous metal goods class with an increase of 139.71 percent (+ 19,569 tons). Also in the goods classes stone and earth (+27.54 percent, + 10,833 tons), ores and metal waste (+ 25.60 percent, + 8,168 tons) and vehicles, machines, other semi-finished and finished goods, special transport goods (+ 23, 34 percent, + 9,075 tons) was an increase.
The tonnage of goods transported in containers rose by 1,768 tons from 62,322 tons in August 2020 to 64,090 tons (+ 2.84 percent). The container volume increased from 6,003 TEU in the same month last year to a total of 6,742 TEU (+ 12.31 percent).
The average water level in August 2021 at Rhine level Mannheim was 4.07 meters and thus 1.81 meters above the average level in August 2020 of 2.26
