In and around the Mannheim harbor can be celebrated again. After the Mannheim Harbor Festival last took place in 2007 for the 400th anniversary of the city of Mannheim, there will be a new edition this year. From August 27th to 29th, 2010, a varied stage program as well as numerous other activities will entertain the visitors excellently.

“We are delighted that we have succeeded in setting up a varied program,” explains port director Roland Hörner from the Mannheim port company that is organizing the festival. She is supported by many partners and sponsors – including SWR 3, Rhein-Neckar Fernsehen, Capitol Mannheim, Eichbaum private brewery, logistics service provider Wincanton and Container Graeff GmbH, to whom Hörner would like to thank for their commitment. “Our program is classy and would not have been possible without our partners,” added Hörner.

Almost non-stop, numerous bands entertain the visitors again and create a good atmosphere. The organizers focus on variety and present regional artists such as Joy Fleming, who plays the tried and tested and well-known, as well as big international names. The top act Paul Carrack, who celebrated worldwide success as the front man of the band “Mike and the Mechanics”, will be on stage together with the SWR Big Band. All party-mad visitors get their money’s worth at the SWR 3 Dance Night. But the very young visitors have also been thought of: with the children’s play paradise, the Mannheim Harbor Festival also becomes a family affair.

In addition, there will be an interesting supporting program over the entire weekend next to the RNF truck and the main stage. With a church service, helicopter flights over the port area, a ship christening and various boat tours, not only music is offered, but the port area can also be experienced up close. “This was very important to us, because the visitors should also learn something about us at the harbor festival,” said Hörner.

The harbor festival takes place in Fruchtbahnhofstraße at Mühlauhafen and is on Friday, August 27th. from 2.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday, 28.8. from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, 29.8. open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The SWR 3 Dance Night takes place on Saturday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
